Hispanotech attended Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) PINs Talent Xchange at YMCA of Greater Toronto.

They hosted a fireside chat with our very own Karen Peraza in conversation with Karen Johnson, touching on the negative effects of underemployment within the immigrant community, moderated by Loretta Lam.

We heard from Craig Alexander how Canada is missing out on all the economic benefits by underutilizing its immigrant talent.

Our team also had the opportunity to showcase what Hispanotech is doing at our booth and met representatives from other Professional Immigrant Networks.

Thank you to our host Gillian Mason, Debroy Chan, Sathya Gnaniah, Celia Huang, Michael Huynh, Rohit Singh and all organizers and volunteers.

We held Hispanotech’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Toronto Metro Hall on February 8th. It was our first hybrid event of 2024, with a sold out audience in-person and record online attendance.

We presented an extensive review of 2023 accomplishments, as well as an ambitious plan of activities for 2024. The plan also involves an organizational restructure. Our official Board is now comprised only of President, VicePresident, Treasurer, and Secretary. You can learn more about it here (link to document on LI) https://www.linkedin.com/posts/activity-7161832193206501376-jmqV?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

For many attendees, several of them newcomers to Canada, this was their first Hispanotech event and they expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to meet other Latin American professionals in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Our Hispanic/Latin American Heritage Month Celebration in October, 2023 was an absolute thrill!

An opportunity to network with representatives from Latin American associations and have meaningful conversations about our Hispanic/Latin contributions, arts and culture, gastronomy, politics, business and career advancement, you name it.

We hosted a panel with Ericka Aguilera, Carlos Chalico and Mauricio Ospina with an insightful, forward-thinking exchange of ideas and experiences; and Mauricio Paredes was our moderator.

Thanks to our volunteers, service and support staff, ALPFA CANADA, EY, LPMN - Latin Project Management Network for helping make this event possible; Antonio Zurita for brilliantly capturing these moments, and finally special thanks to all our attendees and allies!
